Seasonal Beers
The Royal Oak Brewery produces a range of Seasonal Beers throughout each year.  A new Seasonal brew comes on tap every month or two.  These specialty beers give our brewer, Tim Selewski, the opportunity to stretch out and dabble in various classic beer styles.  Some of our Seasonal Beers are annual brews made through the years while others are new products.  Be sure to ask your server or bartender about the availability of our Seasonal Beer during your next visit. Below is a list of our Seasonal Beers.  Annual Seasonals are noted in their descriptions.

Suicide Blonde

Don't let this blonde fool you - there might just be a bit of the devil inside! Its soft golden hue is complimented by a deep head of foam.  Its sweet malt flavor is firmly supported by the spicy character from the yeast.  A tribute to the Strong Golden Ales of Belgium, our Blonde is one of a kind.  Spicy and sweetish with hints of cloves and almonds and a low bitterness.  It's what you need!

Summer Wit - AVAILABLE NOW!!!

Nothing says summer like the Belgian Witbier style, and our offering is no exception.  Pilsner and Wheat malts are combined with a generous portion of raw (unmalted) wheat to create a soft malt character.  Hop additions are kept to a minimum to make way for a unique set of flavors imparted to the beer through generous doses of fresh ground coriander and dried Spanish orange peel.  Crisp and refreshing, this beer is served unfiltered in the classic style.

Holiday Chocolate Stout

Here's a holiday seasonal brew that all our brewers collaberated on.  First, Kevin provided a killer one-of-a-kind stout recipe that we all liked.  Then, Travis took the lead as we took a serious look at chocolate.  Our goal was to bring the flavors of stout and chocolate together in as complimentary a way as possible without one overpowering the other.  Tim and Nate brewed up the stout and we infused it with freshly-made chocolate on the way to the taps.  What ended up in your glass is something rich and satisfying - a perfect beer to pair with your year end celebrations.

Sunshower Maibock

Every year, once spring has come and the weather begins to warm up, we turn out a batch of this traditional German Lager.  Rich and malty, with a delicate kiss of German noble hops for balance, this feastive brew is sure to put you in the mood for getting you back into the warm weather swing of things.  PROST!!!

Oktoberfest

One of the world's greatest and most famous styles of beer is certainly Oktoberfest, a German lager brewed for consumption during Bavaria's annual festival which shares its name.  Our Oktoberfest is one of our most popular specialties.  A rich, clean flavor profile is at the heart of this beer.  It is amber in color with a thick, long lasting head of foam.  The finest German vienna, munich and pilsner malts combine to create a complex but unmistakably smooth malt character.  Noble hops impart a firm bitterness, but this one is certainly malt dominated.  Don't miss this beer - it shows up once each year in the first half of October and never lasts more than two weeks.  Prost!

7 and 7 Is Imperial IPA

Every year we enjoy coming up with a special beer for our September Anniversary Party.  In 2009, we have taken India Pale Ale to somwhere far on the outskirts of the style.  The malt profile has been increased by a more generous addition of high-quality color malts which add a richness of flavor.  The finest American Magnum, Simcoe and Centennial hops burst out of this beer from every angle.  The intense hop aroma comes from a overly-generous addition of dry hops after fermentation.  This beer is served unfiltered to preserve every last bit of hop character.  Happy Anniversary to us!  Did we say (and use) hops enough???

Krueger Alt

The German Altbier style is treasured amongst brewers around the world, and we love turning out our take on it now and again.  Our Alt is copper in color with a rounded maltiness that reflects the large amounts of Pilsner and Munich malts used in our recipe.  Subtle sweetness comes from a small dose of German Caramel malt.  Noble hops add a firm bitterness that balances the malt.  Its rich, complex flavor is a nod to the "Sticke" or "Secret" Alts of Dusseldorf's brewpubs which are specialties made to salute their loyal regulars.  It's Beer Uber Alles!

Irish Coffee Stout

In our unending quest to make new stouts for St. Patrick's Day (as opposed to just trotting out the same - albeit wonderful - Irish Dry Stout each year), we decided in 2010 to try our hand at coffee stout.  We produced a luciously robust cream stout and then infused freshly roasted Nicaraguan Maragogype coffee from a local shop into the finished product.  This cold steeping produced a roasty, complex beer with a rich, round profile and a smooth hint of coffee.

Michigan Cherry Ale

Sometimes we like to go places we haven't gone before, and this time we went north - to the Traverse City area where we found some Michigan Montmorency Cherry juice!  This lovely, tart liquid was added to a standard Belgian-Style Pale Ale to create the perfect warm weather beer.  Deep pink in color, this delicate ale goes down easy on a lazy summer day.

Snowdrift Winter Ale

Each year in January we release our Winter Ale to help beat back the chill.  Brewed loosely in the style of an English Old Ale, this amber beer has a rich sweetness up front which gives way to the distinctive flavor of the finest East Kent Goldings hops in the finish.  This beer is the perfect accompaniment to a plate of rich food on a cold winter day.  It's enough to cure the deepest post-holiday blues.

McCallum's Irish Stout

Brewed annually to celebrate St. Patrick's Day, this beer is produced in the style of a classic Irish Dry Stout.  Robust yet quaffable, this beer has a jet-black appearance and a pronounced roastiness.  Bitterness is medium and comes more from dark malts than from hops.

Stoke City Brown Ale

A rich, smooth brew made from five malts and two hop varieties in the style of a Northern English Brown Ale.  Chestnut brown in color, this beer has notes of chocolate and caramel.  Brewed to honor the people of Stoke-on-Trent in northwestern England.

90 Shilling Scotch Ale

"The 90 Shilling", as it is known, is one of our most popular seasonals and has come to be associated closely with the winter Holiday season.  This festive beer is rich, malty and sweet with a dark copper color.  Hop bitterness and flavor are low in keeping with Scottish brewing tradition.

EuphoriAle Barleywine

One Sunday morning each year, we gather at the Royal Oak Brewery to celebrate the Barleywine style as we produce our famous EuphoriAle.  English pale malt and a single hop variety are combined to produce a rich, distinctive brew.  EuphoriAle turns up on our rotating Seasonal taps from time to time.  Maybe next visit you'll get lucky...
